Heavy Duty Mass Loaded Vinyl with a Fused Scrim
Wall Blokker Pro is a 1 lb/sf mass loaded vinyl core with a polyethylene scrim fused to its face, 1.1 lb/sf finished. The vinyl blocks sound; the scrim decouples it from the surface behind.
- Decouples the layers. The scrim keeps drywall layers from acting as one stiff panel, which helps with impact and structure-borne noise.
- Holds fasteners. Staples and nails grip the scrim instead of tearing the vinyl.
- STC 26 minimum at 3/16″ thick, tested to ASTM E90, and 3 to 5 STC points more than standard MLV on the same wall.
- Approved for UL U300, U400 and V400 rated assemblies.
- Non-PVC, EVA-based. No off-gassing, mold resistant and recyclable.
Soundproofing an Existing Wall Without Tearing It Out
- Over existing drywall. Fasten through the board into the studs and add a new layer of drywall.
- Wood stud party walls, which need the most mass and decoupling.
- Home theaters and studios, where low-frequency noise needs mass.
- Pipe and duct chases with low rumble.
On steel studs, Wall Blokker Lite or Wall Blokker is usually the better value.
How to Install Wall Blokker Pro
- Hang it vertically, scrim to the studs. Nails or staples into the framing.
- Plan for the weight. A 100 sf roll weighs about 110 lb. Use two people.
- Seal every seam with MLV seam seal tape and the perimeter with acoustical caulk. Any gap leaks sound.
- Cut penetrations tight with a utility knife; use an Outlet Blokker on boxes.
- Cover with drywall and finish as normal.
- Coverage: one roll covers 100 sf (12’6″ at 8′ high). Add 10% for overlap.

- Will it stop echo in the room?
- No. It blocks sound through the wall. For echo, use sound absorbing wall panels or acoustic ceiling clouds.
